ASL® Wall Shoes

ASL® Wall Shoe

APK®-C Column Shoe

ASL wall shoes are used in the pre-cast concrete frames of office, commercial and public buildings as tension connections for stiffening wall and shaft elements, retaining walls and earth pressure walls. ASL wall shoe is also suitable for connections between other wall-like concrete elements.

The prefabricated shoe is installed in the formwork of the wall element before concreting. Wall shoe installation at the factory is fast thanks to the ready-made casting housing. The wall element is installed on-site with a bolted connection that allows for a wide range of adjustability. No need for on-site welding. The shoe connection is in working order when its grouting concrete has reached the design strength.

Anstar shoe connections are designed and manufactured in Finland, at Anstar's factory in Villähde. The product has been tested and dimensioned to withstand even demanding construction conditions. Designing wall shoes is quick and easy with Anstar’s own A-COLUMN® design software. Technical support helps our customers with any problems they may encounter.

Anstar Wall shoes are manufactured in accordance with standard SFS-EN 1090-2:2018. All shoes are also designed to meet the requirements of the European standards.

There are two different models of ASL® wall shoes.

  • ASL®-H wall shoes for light wall element connections
  • ASL®-P wall shoes for heavy-duty shear wall element connections

ASL®-H wall shoe for light connections

ASL®-H wall shoes are used in office, commercial and public buildings for connections between wall elements where the elements are connected to each other using bolt connections that withstand tension. The shoe connection only transfers tensile force, and the compressive force is transferred past the shoe, through the concrete of the element and the joint grouting. The shear force is transferred from the wall element through the friction of the horizontal joint to the grouting and on to the foundations.

Rebar bolts are used with the ASL®-H shoe. The wall shoe and bolt connection is designed using A-COLUMN® software, which is also used to design the main reinforcement of the element in the shoe area to transfer tensile forces through the element.

ASL®-P wall shoes for heavy-duty connections

ASL®-P wall shoes are used in the vertical connections of heavy-duty shear walls to connect the elements to lower elements or foundations using connections that withstand tension. The shear force on the connection is transferred through the friction of the element’s horizontal joint.

ASL®-P shoes are used with Anchor Bolts, the ALP®-P2-series bolts of which are particularly suitable for narrow wall elements. The wall shoe and bolt connection is designed using A-COLUMN® software, which can be used to design the main reinforcement of the element in the shoe area to transfer tensile forces through the element. The software also calculates the resistance of the shear connection of the element’s horizontal connection.
